Jennifer Gatlin earned a BS in psychology from Grand Canyon University and a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from University of Houston-Victoria. While attending UHV, she completed her practicum and internship at a psychiatric hospital, where she worked with children, adolescents, and adults with a wide range of mental health issues. After obtaining her license as an LPC-Intern, she worked at another psychiatric hospital, both as an inpatient and outpatient therapist. Upon becoming fully licensed, she worked at a residential treatment center for young adult females. These young women struggled with depression, anxiety, self-harm, suicidal ideation, attachment issues, and many had experienced significant trauma. She has experience doing individual, family, and group therapy.
Jennifer believes that establishing a safe, trusting relationship is vital to a successful outcome in therapy. She works to achieve this by focusing on client strengths and empowering them to utilize their unique strengths to make positive changes. She feels that all people have the capacity to overcome obstacles in order to live a healthier life. She works with adolescents and adults ages 13+.
